We also offer training classes in Simsbury that are held at the Masonic Lodge on Route 10/202.
Our Facility Our facility is 4,500 square feet of indoor, climate-controlled space. The 2,700 square foot play/training floor is fully matted with 3/4 inch thick rubber for traction and shock absorption.

The facility includes:
- a separate crate room for quiet and convenience
- a tub/grooming room
- outdoor potty area which is a 1,400 square foot, safely fenced-in yard directly accessible from the crate room.
- puppy playpen where smaller dogs can socialize with others their own size
Marilyn Marks is the proprietor of The Good Dog Spot! She is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer who has worked in the field since 1988. She is a former teacher who later focused her skills towards the dog training classroom. She has participated in the development of national certification for dog trainers and dog day care facilities and she writes for the Connecticut magazine, PetsPress. She always envisioned a “spot” where dogs and dog lovers could learn and socialize.
Julie Stevens brings over 30 years of dog and management to her position as the day care manager. Prior to coming here, she managed the animal rehabilitation facility at River Meadow Farms (Windsor). Other prior experience includes animal shelter management, wild life rehabilitation and breed rescue. She has also served on the Board of Directors for a conglomeration of animal shelters. In addition, she is a trained and working CNA and ambulance driver.
Mindy Ney Mindy recently earned her associate’s degree in Animal Care & Handling from Becker College as well as a Certificate in dog training from Connecticut K9’s dog trainer’s program. She has been employed here since October, 2007. She is also a trained artist and does portraits of dogs.
Lauren Jackson Lauren has worked on a farm since the age of 7 and is used to the hard work involved in taking care of animals. She did an internship at the Science Center in West Hartford taking care of their animals. Her other work experience is varied, but shows a high degree of abilty, dedication and hard work in jobs such as gardener, office assistant and primary care giver to the elderly. Lauren is also an accomplished equestrian and is putting that knowledge of behavior and training towards understanding more about dogs. In the future she would like to become a veterinarian.
Facility Rental
The Good Dog Spot! is available for weekend rentals, and some evening rentals. It is a perfect site for matches, fun days, club meetings and general get-togethers. With the fully matted play/training floor, plus a crate room, tub room, extra large library room, handicapped-accessible bathroom, fenced outdoor potty area, and plenty of parking -- you have everything you need for a successful event. Our regulation agility equipment is also available for rental if you are renting the facility.Please call us for rental availability and prices.
