The Good Dog Spot! Policies
Age: All dogs must be at least 4 months old for day care.
Sex: All dogs must be spayed or neutered by 7 months of age unless they are from breeding-quality stock and actively being campaigned in the show ring.
Shots: All dogs must be up-to-date on their Rabies vaccine, per the state legal standards (as of this date that means vaccination at 12 weeks, 1 year and then every 3 years). All other vaccines can be given per veterinarian’s recommendations. Owners must provide a copy of current vaccinations or titers to The Good Dog Spot! at time of acceptance and as shots are updated.
Health: Only healthy dogs can come to day care. Owners who observe signs of illness are to keep the dog home until the situation is clarified. Dogs who appear ill at day care will be segregated or taken to the vet if needed. Dog who appear ill while being boarded may be transferred, at owner’s expense, to overnight care at a veterinary facility.
Behavior: All dogs must be non-aggressive to both people and dogs as judged by the interview questions asked by our trained staff and our ongoing observations. We will provide a verbal or written report of your dog’s behavior when you pick up your dog and will advise you of any concerns at that time. We reserve the right to declare a dog’s behavior as unfit for our day care environment at any time, but we endeavor to inform you in advance of any ongoing concerns and to work with you on a solution when possible. Additionally, we recommend that all dogs attend a basic training course either here or elsewhere, for the safety of the dogs and for the enhancement of the dog-owner bond, as we are promoting and supporting the WHOLE dog.
Application/Interview: All dogs must be interviewed prior to attendance at day care/boarding. All dogs must have a completed application on file.
Waivers: All dogs must have signed waivers on file, signed by the owner, in order to attend day care/boarding.
Fees: Fees are based on a verbal Reservation Schedule Contract (see below). All fees are payable upon receipt of invoice which you will receive at the end of each month, showing days of actual attendance with the following exception: Payment for dogs attending only one day a week is due on the day of service. Also there is a $10 per month fee for as-needed scheduling (see below).
Prices
Reservation Schedule Contract The above fees are based on a RESERVATION CONTRACT which allows us to schedule the dogs’ attendance. We require a verbal agreement to regular, standing reservation for day care, which helps us provide the best possible care for the dogs (having adequate staffing, making sure that the dogs are matched with good playmates, etc.). You may elect to have your dog attend as many days or half days as you like and you may change those days AT ANY TIME if your needs change, but in general, the contract binds you to a minimum of your chosen days. If your schedule precludes you having a set attendance schedule, you can arrange weekly, but there is a $10 per month fee for being what we term a “drop-in” customer.
Cancellations: We require a 24 hour notice of cancellations in your dog’s attendance; that means 24 hours from the time we open (7:30 am) on the day your dog will be absent. For example, if your dog normally attends on Wednesday, you need to call by 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. When you cancel on time, you will not be charged for that day and your other days that week will not change price.
Multiple Dog Discounts: Instead of having a price for a 2nd dog, we charge based on days of attendance and each dog counts as a day. So, if your 2 dogs attend on Wednesday, you pay the two-day rate for each dog instead of the one day rate. If your 2 dogs attend two days a week, you pay at the 4-day a week rate, and so on.
Days & Hours: The day care is open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm weekdays. Dogs being picked up after 5:45 pm will be charged additional fees (see below).
Late Fees: You MUST pick up your dog by 5:30 pm. The center is not equipped for or allowed to keep dogs overnight. You will be charged $5 for every quarter hour past 5:45pm. We appreciate a call if you know you are going to be later than 6:00 p.m.

Dogs are always napped between 12 & 1:30 & after 5:00 pm.
Dogs who need to calm down may receive additional nap time on an “as needed” basis.
Additional Policies Pertaining to Boarding
All boarding dogs are subject to the above day care policies except as noted below:
Rates: The fee for overnight boarding is $35, which includes both day and night care (the day care rates do not apply). The cost is the same regardless of number of days of attendance. You are charged based on arrival for boarding at 7:30 am regardless of the time at which you drop off your dog. On the day you pick up your dog the rate is as follows: pick up by 9:00 am – no charge; pick up by noon -- $14; pick up by 6:00pm -- $20.
Health: In addition to the day care conditions, the following also apply: Dogs arriving with or developing (while boarding) signs of coughs, fevers, diarrhea or vomiting will be segregated or take to the vet per judgment of the manager on duty. We reserve the right to take any boarding dog to see a veterinarian at our discretion, whether due to injury, illness or general condition, with all expenses to be reimbursed to us by you, the dog’s owner. Based on observed signs of illness or veterinary diagnosis, we reserve the right to decide to have a staff member sleep at the day care to look after your dog for an additional $15 per night or to have the dog boarded at the vet or some other legal boarding facility that is able to keep the dog segregated, instead of at our facility, with all expenses to be reimbursed to us by you, the dog’s owner. You are exempt from paying boarding fees here when we arrange to have your dog boarded elsewhere, however, you may be charged up to $20 per day for our efforts at transporting and/or attending on your dog at the vet or other situation.
Behavior/Interview: In addition to the day care behavior expectations, we need to evaluate boarding dogs for signs of stress when crated or when alone. Stress may show up as excessive urine marking, resource guarding and barking, drooling, scratching when crated. We may include a day care day or overnight stay as part of your dog’s evaluation prior to accepting your dog for boarding. The cost for these evaluation visits is the same as any day care or boarding visit. Dogs who have boarded with us before but whom we have not seen in 6 months require a new evaluation/interview prior to scheduling boarding.
Deposit: A deposit of $50 is required when you book a stay of 5 days or less; $100 for more than 5 days.
Cancellations: You will receive a full refund of your deposit if you cancel your reservation two weeks prior to your first reserved date. If you cancel within two weeks of your reservation start date, we will assess a $20 fee for holding the boarding space open for you and processing your refund. If you cancel with 5 days or less or if you do not show up, you forfeit your deposit.
Multiple Dog Discounts: The second dog will board for $30 per night.
Pick up and Drop off times:
Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 12:00 pm; 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm* Sat-Sun 9:00 am to 12:00 pm; 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm* Holiday may not be available or available by appointment *We prefer that you drop your dog of as early as possible on his/her first day so that he/she will be quite tired come night time. You are charged for your first day/night from 7:30 am regardless of how late you drop off.
